September 26, 2024 by twolittlelearnerssite@gmail.com Leave a Comment

Sometimes when I do yoga at home, my son likes to jump in and try to copy the moves I’m doing. It’s always so fun to watch him try, and he especially loves downward facing dog! Since he’s been so interested, I decided to make some simple yoga cards for him, featuring kid-friendly poses that he can easily follow along with.

These yoga cards are a great way to introduce little ones to the basics of yoga while making it fun and accessible. My son loves picking out a card and giving each pose a try, and it’s a nice way for us to bond while being active. Plus, yoga is a fantastic way for kids to work on balance, flexibility, and focus.

If you’re looking for a fun and simple way to get your kids moving, these free yoga cards are perfect! Scroll down to download them and start practicing yoga with your little one today. They’re a great addition to any active play routine!

Benefits of Yoga for Kids

Yoga has many wonderful benefits for kids beyond just being a fun way to move their bodies. It helps with flexibility, balance, and strength, giving kids a great way to develop motor skills while having fun. By practicing yoga poses, they also build body awareness and coordination, which are important for overall physical development.

In addition to the physical benefits, yoga can help kids learn how to focus and calm their minds. It’s a great way to introduce relaxation techniques and breathing exercises, which can be especially helpful for kids who need a break from overstimulation. Yoga encourages mindfulness and can even help with managing emotions, making it a valuable activity for both physical and mental well-being. Plus, it’s something that kids and parents can enjoy together!

What’s Included

This free yoga card set includes 6 pages of cards, with 4 cards on each page. Each card features a fun illustration of a child doing a different yoga pose, making it easy for kids to follow along and try the moves themselves. The poses are simple and perfect for little ones just getting started with yoga, allowing them to practice balance, flexibility, and mindfulness in a fun, playful way.

From classic poses like downward facing dog to other child-friendly positions, these cards are designed to keep kids engaged and excited about movement. They’re great for a quick yoga session, calming down before bed, or even incorporating into playtime!

How to Use the Free Yoga Cards

To use the yoga cards, simply print them out and cut along the dotted lines to create your individual cards. We like to use our favorite home laminator to make the cards extra durable, especially if your kids will be using them a lot. Laminating helps keep them in great shape for long-term use!

Once the cards are ready, I put them in a small bag, give them a shuffle, and let my son pick out a card to try. It’s always fun watching him excitedly choose the next pose. He loves yoga so much now that he’s been known to sneak off, grab the yoga mat and the bag of cards, and do his own little yoga session all by himself!

More Fun Ways to use the Yoga Cards

Here are some fun ways to use the yoga cards with your kids:

  • Pick-a-Pose: Shuffle the cards and have your child pick a random pose to try each day. See if they can hold the pose longer each time!
  • Create a Yoga Flow: Let your child pick 5-6 cards to create their own mini yoga session. They can even lead the “class” with you following along.
  • Yoga Scavenger Hunt: Hide the cards around the house. When your child finds one, they complete the pose before moving on to find the next card.
  • Yoga Relay: Lay the cards out in a line, and after completing each pose, your child can run to the next one, making it an active and playful way to practice yoga.
  • Morning Yoga Routine: Start the day by having your child pick 2-3 yoga cards to gently wake up and get moving.
  • Yoga Freeze Dance: Play music and dance, but when the music stops, your child picks a yoga card and freezes in that pose!

These activities will make practicing yoga even more fun and engaging for your little one!
