Welcome to our playroom! I’m excited to give you a tour of the space where my kids spend hours playing, learning, and exploring. I’ve cleaned up for these pictures, so don’t be fooled – it doesn’t always look this tidy!
Our playroom is located at the front of our one-story house, which the kids love because they can look out the window and watch the cars drive by (my son LOVES cars right now, so this is a huge plus!). We love it because the kids are always close by while they play, making it easy to hear them and keep an eye on them.

Before we dive into the details, here’s a quick video tour of our playroom. The walls are painted in Positive Energy by BEHR, a nice light green shade that brings a fresh and cheerful vibe to the space. Our playroom is about 12×13 feet, giving the kids plenty of room to play and explore!
Playroom Shelving
First, let’s talk about the storage shelves on the floor. These are the IKEA TROFAST storage shelves in pine, which you can also find on Amazon. They’re really versatile because you can use a combination of three different bin sizes depending on your needs. In our shelves, we use the small bins on the top and the medium bins underneath. They also have large bins available, but we don’t use any of those.
The shelves are super good quality and well-made, capable of withstanding years of wear and tear from the kids playing. The bins hold a lot of toys—much more than I anticipated—which helps keep the playroom organized and clutter-free. Well, as much as it can be with kids around!
Next, let’s talk about our wall storage. We use the TROFAST Wall Storage in a pine color, which we got from IKEA, though you can also find it on Amazon. It was pretty simple to put together and hang up, making it a convenient storage solution. The bins are also from IKEA, and here on Amazon, and are pretty small, but perfect for holding little items. We use them to store things like crayons, markers, and random little pieces that we don’t want the kids to have access to all the time.
On top of the shelving, we have a rainbow abacus. I think it adds a cute touch, and the kids enjoy playing with it from time to time. To add some life to the room, I placed a plant on top. This plant has a special meaning for our family—it was originally given to my parents when my brother was born over 30 years ago. This is a propagation of that plant, and it was given to me when my son was born!
Playroom Table and Chairs
Next up is our playroom table and chairs. The table is the FLISAT children’s sensory table from IKEA, although there are plenty of lookalikes on Amazon that are a bit cheaper. We put two bins inside that fit perfectly. We love this table because you can use it as a regular table for crafts or snack time, or you can take the lids off for sensory play! It’s also a great height for both my toddler and a baby just starting to walk—they can both reach in and play. Plus, it’s the exact same color as the storage shelves, so everything matches perfectly.
The chairs are from this Simplay3 table and chair set that we used to have in the playroom. Now, we just use the chairs with the FLISAT table, and they fit perfectly and add a pop of color!
Playroom Rug and Couch
We used to have this crawling rug which is super soft and squishy, but recently swapped it out for a Ruggable because they are machine washable! We got an 8×10′ rug with the cushioned pad system, making it soft and comfy for the kids to play on. With our daughter learning to walk, it’s great to have a cushioned surface to help prevent any bumps and bruises when she falls.
We also have a Nugget which the kids love. The cushions can be configured in so many ways, making it perfect for the kids to climb on or build forts. It’s super versatile and provides endless fun and creative play options. This is a cheaper version on Amazon that looks pretty similar!
Playroom Wall Art and Decor
Let’s move on to the wall art. I got the digital downloads from the Etsy shop LittleFolkPrintables. I chose the affirmations, alphabet, and sun prints. After downloading them, I printed them at Walgreens in the 16×20″ size. Then, I used these frames. The frames are super cheap quality, but they are perfect for a playroom because they are plastic, so I don’t have to worry about them getting broken!
Next, let’s talk about our bulletin board, which we love using to display the kids’ arts and crafts. It’s a great way for them to feel proud of their work. This bulletin board is linen and framed, making it look nicer than traditional bulletin boards. We bought it in a 40×30″ size. To hang up the art, we use clothespin tacks so we don’t have to poke holes through their creations.
We use these hanging baskets to hold some of the kids’ smaller stuffies. It’s a cute addition to the room that adds another special touch and helps keep the playroom organized. The baskets are both functional and decorative, giving the room a cozy and playful feel. You can also hang these over a door.
We also have a kid’s wall clock that makes it easier for the kids to tell time. The clock’s hands are labeled with “hour” and “minute,” and all the minutes are marked with numbers. This will help the kids learn to read the clock and understand the concept of time in a fun and interactive way!
We have a Wyze camera in the playroom that connects to our phones and the Google Home in our kitchen. This setup allows us to keep an eye on the kids playing from anywhere in the house, providing peace of mind and ensuring they are safe and happy while having fun.
Our curtains are white with cute little pom poms, adding a fun and playful touch to the room. They brighten up the space and fit perfectly with the cheerful vibe of our playroom.

In the corner, we have a wicker basket that holds some of the kids’ Squishmallows, blankets, and pillows. I can’t remember where we got this basket but here is one that looks similar!
Playroom Bookshelf
Now let’s talk about the bookshelf. We have this children’s bookshelf that is the perfect size for little kids. While the shelves sometimes don’t hold bigger books very well, it works just fine for its purpose. The drawers hold plenty of books, and the kids love it because they can see all the covers.
Some of our favorite books on the shelf include the My First Brain Quest books, which are awesome for toddlers. They ask age-appropriate questions and get kids thinking about different topics like community helpers, feelings, shapes, and letters. My son loves them! We also have the Peekaboo books, which are great for babies because they have pages that slide and pop up—both my kids love these ones. Lastly, the Can You Find It books have occupied my son for hours! He will just sit there are stare at all of the pages which gives me a nice break!
